Text reads: "The goalposts moved, but we're still creating! Help us reach 4,000 watch hours on YouTube," alongside icons for morning lives, 24/7 music streams, and thousands of videos, with a "Subscribe - Click to Watch!" button at the bottom. The Goalposts Moved, But We're Still Creating!Behind every independent creator is a journey of shifting goalposts, changing algorithms, and relentless passion. From teaching to creating art, Florida vlogs, morning live shows, and 24/7 music, we've been building since 1983. Help us reach our goal of 4,000 watch hours on YouTube so we can keep sharing our art and music with you!
Every content creator knows the feeling: you finally clear the hurdle, hit the metrics, and meet the requirements, only to watch the platform move the goalposts.

For me, this journey didn't start in a tech incubator or a media studio, where it started, in a classroom. After wrapping up my teaching career in 2020, I packed my bags, moved down to Florida near Walt Disney World, and leaned into a lifelong passion for art. Needing a way to showcase my daily creations, I turned to TikTok. Over six years of consistency, morning lives, and daily content, I built a community of 15.1 thousand followers.

Then life threw a curveball. After getting sick in 2023, I returned in 2024 determined to rebuild. I qualified for TikTok’s monetization program, which rewards creators for keeping viewers engaged on videos over a minute long, no small feat in the era of short attention spans.

I even managed to go viral a few times. But the reality of platform algorithms quickly set in: one video hit a million views, and the payout was a modest $23. Worse yet, after posting a few funny, entirely original Disney voiceover videos, the platform flagged them as "unoriginal" and stripped my monetization eligibility entirely.

The Reality of Platform Monetization

When platforms introduce a dollar amount, creators naturally hope to earn a sustainable living. But as soon as you get close to the finish line, the rules often seem to shift.

TikTok: Provided an audience, but frequent policy shifts and unpredictable payouts made stability elusive.

YouTube: Our current frontier, where we are tantalizingly close to hitting monetization thresholds, if the metrics cooperate

Finding a New Home on YouTube

More recently, I’ve shifted my focus to YouTube, and we are closer than ever to unlocking our goals. We currently sit right around 3,000 watch hours, chasing the crucial 4,000 hour milestone.

Our channel isn't just about one thing; it’s a creative hub built on decades of experience (I’ve been creating art and content since 1983!). Here is what you will find on our channel:

24/7 Music Streams: Continuous background music to accompany your day.

Morning Live Shows: Daily conversations diving into nostalgia, movies, music, video games, and art.

Thousands of Videos: A massive library of content ready to watch, explore, and enjoy.

How You Can Help

Platforms might move the goalposts, but community support is constant. Whether it's a sudden drop in recorded watch hours or algorithmic roadblocks designed to gatekeep monetization, real human support is what keeps independent creators afloat.

If you want to support a lifelong creator who has been putting art into the world for over four decades, come check out our YouTube channel, watch our videos, and join our community. Every view, watch hour, and bit of engagement helps us cross the finish line.
